Hello and happy August!
Yep folks it's our 4th and final water saver installment. Well for now....
It's been a fun summer learning all the ways to save water. We have had great feedback from many of our readers about there tips and would like to open this month to YOU.
Please feel free to post your OWN WAYS you save water daily and simply.
I know we have posted many tips but there are always more to be heard and we REALLY want to hear YOURS. Please post them on the blog, do not email them to us. You don't need to have a blogger account to post comments.
Here are 3 more of our own tips and a few more facts on why it is so important to save water for your community, home, environment, as well as your well being...simply.
TIPS:
- As a friend shared on his blog, using hand sanitizer when you're out and about can save you from using water in public bathrooms. Folks may think you're a little gross, leaving and not washing your hands, but you can walk away in pride knowing your saving water and have your own way of keeping clean, simply.
- This may be a double Eco-friendly tip. But if your employer supplies a large water dispenser, use it! Do not use the plastic water bottles. The dispenser is there for you. Simply bring your own reusable mug, bottle, etc. and just reload throughout the day. You not only save on water usage, but you skip using a disposable plastic water bottle simply.
- Don't be afraid to speak up. For example, if you see water sprinklers broken and spraying everywhere but the grass, especially at retail stores and restaurants, or a dripping faucet in a public bathroom, let someone know. Even if it's a neighbor's sprinklers being used during no-watering peak hours, people are sincerely grateful when you say something, because believe it our not most folks care about saving water too! It's really simple to just say something and not be over-bearing about it.:)
Here are a few additional facts on plastic water bottles:
- Each day in the US more than 60 million plastic water bottles are thrown away. Only about one in six plastic water bottles sold in the US are recycled.
- Globally, factories are using more than 18 million barrels of oil and up to 130 billion gallons of fresh water a year to meet consumer demand for plastic water bottles.
